The Spring project generator offers a selector, but it being a closed source plugin, doesn't help much.
It did however help a little in the search https://plugins.jetbrains.com/docs/intellij/sdk.html#available-sdks
Though why I didn't see this on my initial view of the platform docs, I don't know
