Hi all 👋 , I have a
Mac (Apple Silicon)
system. I have downloaded this AS version from https://developer.android.com/studio/archive
Copy code
Android Studio Koala Feature Drop | 2024.1.2 Canary 2
Now, I do not see the zip file for
Mac (Apple Silicon)
for any versions after
Android Studio Koala | 2024.1.1 Canary 7 April 29, 2024
. Even, the one I downloaded earlier is now missing the zip files.

Yes, we have discontinued distribution as
.zip
for Mac as the file format is not fully trusted unless extra steps are taken by the user, which breaks Studio in subtle ways. IntelliJ has also moved to this model.

I have been using this for a long time and it worked seamlessly for me. In this way, I was able to maintain multiple AS versions across channels - stable, canary, RC, etc.
I have tried Jetbrains Toolbox earlier and I had faced some issues with that. Is that the only option now?
Also, does Jetbrains Toolbox support multiple version of a AS channel 🤔 ?
c
JetBrains Toolbox is one option though I don’t know if it’ll let you have multiple versions on the same channel

So, there is no alternative for the zip files?
c
We still distribute with DMG. If you are looking to have multiple versions, that is something DMG should support and Toolbox makes easy. Have you tried either of these methods for your scenario?
a
I have tried both in the past. Zip files worked best for me. I will try again and see about DMG and toolbox.

Cool. I will try and update here.
