Why do people reply with a thread emoji when I obviously made a thread? You guys are strange
r
I would guess because your request in the main message is multiple-pages long πŸ™‚

It's just a stacktrace. That's standard in an initial message. Are you guys even developers?

The last time I saw your message, it looked like you had added your screenshots to a new thread.

Not really, or at least when it reaches a certain length. So-called "walls of text" are bad practice, especially as on mobile client the channel is really hard to skim through which such mega messages. Thus it is recommended to push such longer snippets inside the thread and which is why some people reacted with the thread-please-emoji most probably.

The good old trick of "maybe if I start insulting people they will get on my side". Never fails does it?

Yes, that's why I had to ignore the post initially
At least imo, part of how someone trying to help can feel you've put in the effort to try to help yourself first is to recognize what parts of a stracktrace are important, what aren't, and to omit the latter. I think this would have been much better:
com.auth0.jwk.NetworkException: Cannot obtain jwks from url <http://XXX.XX.XX.XXX:8080/.well-known/jwks.json>
	at com.auth0.jwk.UrlJwkProvider.getJwks(UrlJwkProvider.java:139)
	at com.auth0.jwk.UrlJwkProvider.getAll(UrlJwkProvider.java:145)
	at com.auth0.jwk.UrlJwkProvider.get(UrlJwkProvider.java:163)
	at com.auth0.jwk.RateLimitedJwkProvider.get(RateLimitedJwkProvider.java:28)
	...

It's definitely not standard to attach a huge stacktrace in the main message. Many people read this channel.

You may not like it, but this is what peak mobile experience looks like

That I actually think is a very bad advice. Often help-seekers cannot evaluate what is important and thus ask. And even if they think they can evaluate, they might be wrong and thus making helpers the life much harder by not providing all information.

It’s better to start a thread with the simple description of the problem, followed by β€œdetails in πŸ§΅β€ and put stack traces or file snippets in there.

@Stylianos Gakis It's a shortcut to find out who are the little bitches pretending to be adults.

@Stylianos Gakis honestly, it looks just as terrible on desktop. I have to pop out the thread to have a chance in hell of keeping focus. This seems like a slack problem in general. Sucks
That's what I see on linux desktop client. The divider shows it can be expanded, but it won't budge.
s
Doubling down on the insulting part, bold move I must admit.
b
I'm just being honest. It seemed weird so I spoke my mind. It's a pretty big red flag to find someone who gets offended by such minor remarks. They are being emotionally immature. From their standpoint, I'm being immature. I get this
v

Both of the statements more show that you might fall into that category. πŸ˜‰ I just tend to ignore such non-sense or I would get a heart-attack with all that is going on online. πŸ˜„

This has nothing to do with being offended, it's following the etiquette of the community in which you are participating. You seem unable to do so and quite some people try to nudge you to follow said etiquette. And to top it all off, you fall back to insults when being called out.

Objectively, we have differences in beliefs and values. We are being conditioned by different environments. The statement would have been interpreted as mildly comedic in my local environment. Anyways, this is a waste of time. Moving on
s
Insulting random strangers who you have just asked for help from is normal in your local environment?
b
Yeah, this is retarded. I'm ignoring you from this point forward. I'm not a child.

Heads up @Brandon Chapman! I noticed offensive language and behavior toward others. We value a respectful and inclusive environment for everyone in the community. This type of language violates JetBrains Code of Conduct. Please be mindful of your words and actions when interacting with others.
b
Any behavior or set of words uttered in a large enough audience will be interpreted as "offensive" to a subset of the respective target audience. Attempting to effectively enforce such a policy would be an unethical act in itself. What results is selective application of the rules. I will continue to speak freely. You will selectively apply rules. The game plays on
v
Feel free to say anything you like in any way you like. But don't wonder if the MODs then pretty quickly remove you from the community. Right for free speech is never an excuse for violating community rules and proper netiquette. If the majority of people in a community, including MODs which have this as mission, rate your words as offensive, insulting, and unappropriate, you maybe should think about it. It is fine if you do not, but then you most probably need to do that somewhere else. πŸ˜‰
