@Alina Dolgikh [JB] If someone would want to sign up and they have multiple ideas, of which you would choose at most one, should that person submit multiple times (and perhaps mention the other ideas) or merge it into 1 request? EDIT: I see there is the "max 3 submissions from any person" so that would answer my question, carry on 🙂

I'd like to chime in on this, as we're preparing a submission. Since we don't care for expenses covered and we have a pitch that works both as a full talk and could also be condensed into a lightning talk, we'd like to know the following: How does the review and acceptance process work? In particular, if our submission gets rejected as a full talk, is there the possibility to downgrade/resubmit it as a lightning talk, or will it simply be a hard reject? All of us have experience with academic conferences; some work that way, others don't. Moreover, We don't want to submit two talks (one full and one lightning talk) that could cannibalize each other, given their proposals would be similar, if we go for a for a full and a condensed version of the same pitch.

Hi @Bernd Prünster! You can apply once, and typically the program committee will consider the full talk format first. If it doesn’t fit for any reason, they may offer a lightning talk instead. However, to avoid any miscommunication, you can add a note in the description indicating that you’re open to either the full or lightning format.
