Completely random: by default, Idea restores my workspace when I go from one git branch to another using the gui selector. Is there a way I can disable this by default so I don't have to uncheck the checkbox over and over for new projects?

Thanks, @hho. But that checkbox is reset to checked for every new project I open. I was hoping to be able to change Idea's default here ...

I made my screenshot without a project open (Customize → All Settings from the Welcome window). I think that's the default?
EDIT: Or maybe not. The icon next to it says, that it's a project-only setting.

How do I open Idea without a project? (I created a new project and found the restore item checked even though the project I already had open had it unchecked.)

So it seems I need to learn how to open Idea with no project open first ...
