IntelliJ IDEA has inspections for "synchronization on non-final field" for both Java and Groovy, but not for Kotlin. Is it actually missing, or have I not noticed it?

Yes, the whole group “threading issues” doesn’t exist for Kotlin. Feel free to create a feature request in YouTrack.
