Looking at the commits for the androidx fork, it looks like TextField support is the primary task that jetbrains is currently working on. Looks like they merged in some major improvements this morning, so hopefully TextFields will work well soon.

According to this https://github.com/JetBrains/compose-jb/issues/2048#issuecomment-1165485572 it works with the on screen keyboard in simulator 🙂
