what would be the equivalent of lua for a kotlin/jvm application please ? (to provide modding/extensibility)

<https://www.graalvm.org/|GraalVM> might be another option, which would let you embed a wide variety of scriptable languages (though it’s Oracle, so watch out for the licensing!)

Finally, Kotlin itself has <https://kotlinlang.org/docs/custom-script-deps-tutorial.html#create-a-scripting-host|scripting capabilities>, so you could use Kotlin as the script language
