i really dont understand why k2 plugin mode is default now. its a usability regression and people are missing features.

Hello Christoph! Could you please clarify which exact features you're missing with K2 plugin mode?
c
i am not using it but you just have to look in this channel it happens all the time that someone says “where is feature X, and then finds out that its missing in k2 mode”
also i already commented in the “what features would you like prioritized in k2” thread. my point is its not clear why it was enabled at a time where it was a usability regression for most people.
its not even about what features am i missing, its the feeling that when i press alt enter i don’t see all the options that i could see with it disabled.
i mean i get it you want people to use it to get feedback. but if your main priority was the best ux for your users you would not have enabled it in this timeframe.

The Kotlin REPL doesn't work for example.
Funny thing, it's just completely missing when enabling K2.

We haven't enabled K2 mode by default in 24.3. Though if you used K2 mode with 24.3 EAP, then it's expected that the release version would preserve the setting. Please specify your version otherwise.

Ov I thought its enabled by default. If its not then sorry. I just see lots of people on this slack with k2 regressions.
a
we had k2 mode enabled in EAP to collect feedback. To my understanding, groups of people who use slack and EAP are very similar, so it's expected to get such feedback here. Please note that we react to the feedback. You probably know the 80/20 rule - unfortunately it's impossible to make everyone happy and we would very probably enable k2 mode by default even if not all inspections/intentions are ported.

ok makes sense to enable it for the eap. then my complaint was wrong 🙂
