Hey guys! I tried Junie for Android dev and it’s quite impressive. Do you know if it is limited/well trained mostly for Kotlin/Android/KMP or will it also be as good in python coding? I wonder if some of you tried it out elsewhere.

Hi! It’s general purpose SWE agent, and works well with any projects. I used it with Kotlin (in IntelliJ) , Python (in PyCharm) and JS/TS (in WebStorm) — works well.

Perfect! I will give it a try then. Might need to buy PyCharm too and switch to it from vscode, but if Junie can handle robotics apps with python as good as kotlin then it’s worth the investment. Thanks!

The LLM models that Junie is based on are trained on an order of magnitude more Python code than Kotlin

A short follow-up question - can we change Junie’s underlying model? I’ve read on reddit that it is running on Claude Sonnet 3.7 currently, are there any plans to let the users select the model anytime soon?

There is no support and no response from Jetbrains on this feature request
My current theory is that their testing and implementation are deeply dependant on the way a specific Sonnet model responds
Since such things are normally a matter of changing a string
