Can someone please give me some guidance on the 'Not Kotlin' reaction? This is the android channel and I am using Kotlin. Sorry, I'm confused. I thought this channel was for questions about Kotlin-Android development (I would understand if i had been asking XML or gradle questions). Just trying to understand so I don't post inappropriate stuff. Also, the other reaction was 'thread,-please. I get it, I should of posted a short message and put the rest in the comments but cant work out how to add a reply to by post when others have not replied, how do I do this?

The Reply-In-Thread starts the discussion.
“Not Kotlin” - this is a Kotlin language channel. Runtime issues that would be a problem in say Android/Java aren’t appropriate. The topic of this channel provides links to other sources of Android assistance.
b
OK, so if the code uses any Java libraries, which may be the issue, then don't ask here?
c
not really that cut-and-dry; if the issue is with Kotlin inter-op, this would be the right place; if the issue is with say runtime behaviour etc, that likely isn’t Kotlin specific and belongs elsewhere.'

"would I have the same issue if I weren't using kotlin?" if the answer is yes, then it probably does not belong here

LOL, if I knew that I would know what was wrong.

let them react what they want, maybe someone will answer

That is not the use of this community resource. https://kotlinlang.org/community/slackccugl.html
Please remember this is a Slack team for Kotlin. If you have generic questions that are about a technology (which may or may not be used with Kotlin), maybe it’s better to use another forum, such as StackOverflow.
this channel in particular has a very low signal to noise ratio thanks to too many people asking unrelated questions.

the channel description explicitly tells you to go elsewhere for those.
a
the absurdly low signal to noise ratio, makes it so easy to ignore this channel

Actually disappointed in @oday’s answer (as someone who has replied his question before). Just adding that this slack is not a general QnA site or a replacement for Stack Overflow.

I agree, disappointing answer, apologies! I still appreciate your help

@oday It is deliberate violation of rules of this Slack and it may cause ban in case of multiple violations. Everyone is reasonable person here, everyone tries to help, please understand that this Slack has rules, and every member agreed on them during joining process
