Today’s change means GitHub no longer has a single leader, or CEO, and responsibility for GitHub will align more closely to the CoreAI leadership team.
Multiple Microsoft managers are in charge now. Feels like the beginning of the end. 😔

Indeed, there is nothing like GitHub. The next best thing is Gitlab, but it doesn’t offer the same polished experience.
Hopefully Microsoft doesn’t mess this up. I love GitHub.

There are a lot of open source GitHub 1:1 clones. I think in the worst case one of these will take over. Microsoft shouldn’t change anything to GitHub except maintenance for the runner images IMHO. We will see the the new bosses are up to.

As someone who has to work every day with the broken mess that is Azure DevOps, GitHub aligning more closely with Microsoft is terrible news for me. 😢

Dropping GitHub CoPilot for Microsoft CoPilot in Azure. I am expecting Microsoft GitHub 365. GitHub account will be Microsoft Account.

I just hope for more business features (vNet support in Codespaces, bigger Action caches, faster/custom Codespaces prebuilder using Actions runners), finally immutable actions/releases and fine grained tokens everywhere, including GitHub Packages.
