Hey folks! Shout-out to everyone I met as the Kotlin Multiplatform PM over the past few years - and to everyone else who just likes KMP 👋 I’ve recently joined a team at JetBrains that believes KMP could be a better vibe-coding stack than React Native - and I desperately need you to challenge us kodee walking If you (or someone you know) have tried AI/no-code tools for mobile (esp. without a deep dev background) - I’d love to chat. Drop me a DM if you’re interested! p.s. All the usual JetBrains research perks apply.

It won't be the best "vibe-coding stack" because the LLMs require a ton of code available in Github to copy from. Better to just focus on improving KMP instead of chasing AI hype

For simple apps: Why not? Vibe coders might actually understand generated code due to Kotlin's conciseness and readability. Agent feedback from mandatory compile-time type safety might reduce time-to-quality. And KMP's "native everywhere" capabilities along with CMP could offer better (animation) speed and visual integration.

Like @David Breneisen I don't see why any time should be spent on that. These tools should be all about making it easier to build correct software, vibe coding is the opposite of that.

I'm all in on quality (see testballoon TestBalloon), but it doesn't have to be a dichotomy: We can continue to build complex high-quality software. At the same time, not-yet-developers can be attracted to an ecosystem by exposing them to a vibe-coding toolkit for simple app development. The more people from diverse backgrounds are attracted to Kotlin, the more we all might benefit.
