Also how can I go about running KTS scripts from within an IDEA plugin? I keep getting this error:

For `*.main.kts` scripts, I have it working out of the box. But if it's your custom script definition then I'm not sure

Yes - this is for custom scripts. I believe the classpath loads some platform classes into the script, and because its not running in the correct platform sandbox the scripts cannot run, the error originates from PathManager
