It's been a few years since I was following Kotlin native super closely. I'm curious if the native performance has gotten much better.

Not much. GC is still years behind JVM, but the lack of stack-based allocation for C interop is my biggest gripe.

When I started my project, kotlin native was about 20 times slower than JVM. Now I'm looking at less than 10. Sometimes only around 4 times slower.

Of course, it depends highly on what you do. Do a lot of object allocations and performance will tank due to the memory management being not very good, as @Sergey Chelombitko mentioned.

Are there any plans to try and improve the memory management?

I have no idea. I'd hope so. There are times when I wonder if maintaining the native version of my system is worth it. There are really no major benefits of it, other than startup time.

Sharing code with iOS and other native platforms seems pretty nice
