Is there any plan for a
0.7.1-K2.0.0
?
Gradle is not executing new tests in a JVM-only project (solved, https://kotlinlang.slack.com/archives/C09FQGG85EC/p1765811117553409?thread_ts=1765809893.004949&cid=C09FQGG85EC)
o
There is
0.7.0-K2.0.0
, which is identical in functionality to the 0.7.1 releases. Did you miss anything?
r
I was having issues with Gradle 8 not running new tests until after a clean. Thought it might be the Gradle 9 compat issue.
o
IIRC, Kotlin 2.0.0 is not compatible with Gradle 9.
r
Right, I'm using Gradle 8. But release notes for 0.7.0 indicate it is only compat with Gradle 9.
I thought maybe the fact that I was using Gradle 8 along with 0.7.0 was why Gradle was not finding new tests.
o
The Gradle 9 minimum requirement was for 0.7.0-K2.1.20 to 0.7.0-K2.2.21. K2.0.0 was not affected. Do you happen to use a JVM-only project (no KMP)?

Yes, this project is JVM only
IntelliJ was reporting "Test events not received". Debugging by running Gradle directly showed it was not an IJ issue -- Gradle was not finding/running the test either. Only way to get it to work was to run a
clean
first. But then adding a second new test failed in the same exact way.
o
In this case, you're probably hitting https://github.com/infix-de/testBalloon/issues/47, unfortunately. It will be addressed in the upcoming 0.8 releases.

Until then, you could put this into your build script to disable incremental compilation for tests only:
Copy code
afterEvaluate {
    val testCompileTaskRegex = Regex("""^compile.*Test""")
    tasks.withType(AbstractKotlinCompile::class.java) {
        if (testCompileTaskRegex.containsMatchIn(name)) {
            // WORKAROUND: Incremental compilation must be disabled until compiler plugin support is sufficient.
            //     see <https://github.com/infix-de/testBalloon/issues/47>
            incremental = false
        }
    }
}

Thank you, it worked

Full incremental compilation support will arrive with Kotlin 2.3.20. We need some additional compiler support first.

My apologies for asking an x-y question, lol
o
No worries! Glad we could solve it!
