Hey y'all.
Here I am with a long overdue update on The current evolution of the BEKUG.

🚀 Kick-Off BEKUG 11/12/2025 - Kunlabora, Leuven
As you might have read in the short report of the meetup, we're experimenting with a format where we start the evening with a talk, followed by an open space format.
One of my sessions in that open space was "Help build out the BEKUG".
Here's the summary of that specific session:
We want to plan a BEKUG MeetUp every 2 months.
We're aiming for February, April, June, October and December. That way KotlinConf (in May) and KTConf (in September) will not have to compete with a MeetUp (or rather, the other way around 😉).
We sort of already have venues in our heads for every single one. With the first one of February being held at DPG Media (✅ ).

We also agreed that we'd (initially at least) use this channel as our means of communication. If you are part of this channel for a while and have an objection to that, please speak up ❤️

There were some other things said that require some more detailed explanation, so those are better kept for live BEKUG sessions I think.

🎇 1st Meetup of 2026 12/02/2026 - DPG Media, Vilvoorde
During this meetup there was another session in the OpenSpace where we tried out the Community Weaving template in order to get a better idea about the BEKUG's identity and values.
I'll post the result of that canvas in a second.

If you're reading all of this and are wondering how YOU can help shape this community, the best way to do it (for now at least) is to join the next MeetUp and join the community building session that I'll host during the open space part of the evening 😉.

🔮 Future Meetups
The next one is looking to take place in Ghent at DoubleVerify, somewhere in April.
The one after that will most likely take place in Kontich, somewhere in June.
We're looking to organize the one in October "at a school". If you know students or teachers, or someone in charge in a school that would be interested in hosting, please get in touch with me somehow 😉
