Usually there's the single asserter contributor in that list and its contribute method just returns a singleton asserter instance:

internal actual fun lookupAsserter(): Asserter {
    for (contributor in contributors) {
        val asserter = contributor.contribute()
        if (asserter != null) return asserter
    }
    return DefaultAsserter
}

Have you tried profiling to determine what takes the most time?

Thanks for reply! I had found the cause, it was power-assert plugin generated heavy messages.

Yes, we know about this issue with power assert and are thinking about assertion overloads that would allow to construct the message lazily.
