Is there any official guidance on 16 (or 8 or 4dp) usage on android. my designers want 24dp horizontal padding on each screen. and it just feels so off. ive always used 16dp but cant really find anything around it lol

I've always considered 16dp a minimum. Fine to go higher than that. Sometimes I do 32 if it's a single centered card because it looks a little more balanced.

aha. found something i can point to under "compact" spacing. i was already on that page (just not under the compact tab).

if anyone else finds this and finds anything else regarding 16/ 8 or 4dp rhythm (i vividly remember Roman Nurik and <@UK5SVA94Z> always talking about this) lol
