Since you are asking, then I'd say Spring is the way to go. It has been around longer so is more mature and friendly to newbies.

If I were an IT consultant, then I would say it depends. If you are planning to start a big monolithic project, then Spring Boot gives you a solid framework with lots of plugins, all you need. And given the resources for a monolith, it will be performant.

If however, you are planning for microservices (in the sense of many but small), then something more light, or even with compiling to native could be more helpful. So my best guess would be ktor or quarkus. Ktor is lighter than Spring Boot. Your microservice(s) will look more like a domain service (less like a Spring boot monolith).
