With a custom format, I'm getting:

FAILURE: Build failed with an exception.

but only in CI. Locally the build is successful. Do you know what I could do to reproduce this locally? I tried --no-configuration-cache and --rerun-tasks .

Are you running exactly the same tasks?

Maybe run clean and disable Gradle build cache? Maybe something with parallelism?
Or can you try dropping ~/.gradle and ~/.m2 locally to emulate a full clean build?
It's really hard to say what's going wrong here...
