Hello, we're not ready to move off junit but are considering kotest for assertions.
Is there anything we should be aware of using just the assertions library standalone, or is it all good?

It's all good and expected usage. The framework and the assertions are different modules altogether

I am curious though, what do you think blocks you to migrate to kotest? Maybe we can help with answering questions

lots of team do exactly that - kotest assertions embedded in junit. personally I think we have much better assertions, and I'm on the bubble about the framework

Time mostly!! I'm not interesting in a wholesale migration right now of our large mature codebase; on the whole we don't have any friction with using junit. We do have some issues with assertions though and are looking for something that can slot in nicely
