Hi all, we're recruiting for a Junior Software Engineer position to work on the native Android media playback library at the BBC. (As the ad mentions, the team is both native Android + iOS, but you would spend most of your time on your preferred platform and we currently have fewer Android devs so would like another!) The role is hybrid (typically 1-2 days in the office per week) and based in Manchester, UK. Salary up to £38,200 + we're unable to offer visa sponsorship afaik. careers.bbc.co.uk/job/Junior-Software-Engineer/46944-en_GB

HMU if you ever consider a Remote contract from Poland (just 1 hour away from the UK)!
d
@Rosie Inman did you flip the numbers? £38k seems really low for a developer job. Or is there something I am not understanding about UK salaries?
b
If remote is available, I am willing to do it otherwise I will be needing visa-sponsorship

@dewildte £38k for a junior in the UK is a good salary. Flipping the numbers would be Lead/very senior levels if your lucky.
d
I just converted it to CAD and thought it was really low. But the cost of living in Canada is very high too. I don't live in the UK so I'm a bit ignorant.
k
No worries, Canada/US Salaries are generally lot higher than UK / Europe. you'll very rarely find anything over 100k in the UK but its very common over there.
I guess it also depends where in Canada you are. if your Vancouver way its probably quite high?

I'm in the GTA in probably the richest town in Ontario. We have a lot of celebs, like deadmau5, living in my general area. The average house cost here is 1 million CAD.
k
To be fair I’m about a mile south of the BBC office in Manchester and you would be hard pushed to find a 3 bed semi detached house under 700k CAD 🫤
