hey folks! I recently got MapLibre Compose (compose multiplatform sdk for interactive vector maps) fully working on Compose Web, and I was asked to share a live demo for interested folks in this channel: maplibre.org/maplibre-compose/demo/app. The library embeds gpu-accelerated maps into a Compose app, with full compositing with Compose UI on most platforms (no
HtmlElementView
). MapLibre is able to render maps using vector or raster tile data from a variety of free and commercial sources usually based on OpenStreetMaps, styled exactly how you like, and has rich functionality for efficient data visualization on the map. Compose Web support is limited to Kotlin/JS for now as I'm doing some dirty hacks to get the Compose graphics context interop I need, though Kotlin/Wasm support is ready to land likely when Compose 1.13 lands the necessary api to retire the hacks.

@Sargun Vohra repost it in the #C0BJ0GTE2 for a visibility!

I typically post releases in #C0BJ0GTE2, don't want to be too spammy but next time I'll highlight the live demo too

Hey folks! The API for rendering a WebGL texture in Compose canvas is already available in 1.13.0-alpha01! One of the use cases is to render html-in-canvas. Other use cases: Maps (MapLibre Compose), video player, embedding 3d graphics, etc. Have fun kodee greetings

Hey @Sargun Vohra, correct me if I’m wrong, but does this mean MapLibre Compose can now run on Kotlin/Wasm using cmp 1.13.0-alpha01? If so, is there a dev version available that uses this API so we can try it out?
s
There's a branch with Kotlin Wasm support, awaiting CMP 1.13's release before I merge. So, not the published library yet, but you can build from source to get that, or await the next compose release
