I have an app with 4 tabs. One of the tabs is a google map. Every time I come back to the google map it seems to reload and in general thats a heavy operation. iOS doesn't do this so my PM wants to also make sure android doesn't reload the map.

What's the compose idiomatic way of keeping the map around?

How are you displaying the map? Sounds like it’s getting torn down and recreated.

Correct. I'm still using nav2 on this project for the top level tabbed based nav so this is a different destination.

had the same issue a while ago with a webview and solved it by wraping it in `rememberRetained` from slack `Circuit` . Have you tried the new `retain` api? Not sure how that works with nav2

Is the destination with the Map being removed from the backstack? It shouldn’t be getting torn down if it’s just a destination in the background.
