FWIW, there may be some awful and not-so-awful ways to get rid of the *. FirSamConversionTransformerExtension springs to mind as a reasonable option. You can also modify the FIR to add a rube-goldberg machine that triggers a FirExpressionResolutionExtension (but that's not "supported"); I experimented with the latter in wither; just now realising that the FirSamConversionTransformerExtension could've worked better 😅
