its super fast and can go a whole day with one charge. the air is probably enough for most workloads even heavy dev (at least the new air with 24gig ram) I have a pro now because I needed more than the 16gig of the air.

16 GB Macbook Pro bought in nov 2020. Fast, great battery life, silent. Almost all my compatibility issues are solved. We only have an issue with Cypress for web UI testing which we solve with a manual compile/override on the M1 machines.

But be sure to check your dependencies to see if really all of them have been upgraded to work with Apple Silicon. Or you maybe need to do some work after like select different multi architecture docker base images or alike tasks. For maven dependencies you can check the artefacts if there are platform dependent images and for general software there is this website: https://isapplesiliconready.com In nov 2020 it was a way different situation where I sometimes questioned my choice for M1, (Intellij was almost unworkable without native M1 build) but now is a different time. In general most problems should be solved.
