however I noticed when using the real usb-c cable from my phone charger in this port, the apks deploy noticeably faster
s
faster than what?
you don’t really want a “splitter” either way, you want a hub or even maybe a dock depending on your workflow
u
faster than usb-a cable
I just want the full speed of the usb-c so it deploys apks faster to phone, while keeping 4k display working .. im not doing nothing too crazy
s
Might be a silly question but are there any USB-C ports on the monitor you could use?
u
unfortunatelly no .. im assumig usb-c non thunderbolt is still faster than regular usb, right?
or does it have to be thunderbolt to get the speed improvements?
s
It’s definitely faster, doesn’t have to be Thunderbolt
u
anyways, its usb-a and one usb-c(tb) on the laptop
s
It kinda sounds like you might want a Thunderbolt Dock if that’s within your budget
u
whats a dock exactly, is it "active" whereas the little adapter things are passive? I'd think that the 4k monitor doesnt fill out the whole tb bandwidth and there would be enough space for the occasional apk deploys, no?
but I dont follow this stuff anymore
h
it might depend on thunderbolt driver
g
Type-a can be as fast as type-c, check your cable, it can be usb 2.0 Anyway, I don't know any phone which aupport thunderbolt, at most it may support usb 3.2 or 3.1 I recommend this video, it shows how to check usb speed
