In pre-2020.1 IntelliJ I could click once on a changed file in local VCS changes to see a compact diff of the changes.

1. Now I have to double click
2. The diff is opened in the main editor and it’s not a “compact” diff

Is there a setting I am missing?

There's an icon in the commit window to toggle on and off the compact diff IIRC.

@poohbar See the tooltip here, two places before the little gear icon 😉

Note that the icon is not shown if the file is brand new because there's no unchanged fragments.

As they say: an image is worth a thousand words. But the words are better indexed by search algorithms… 😄
