I recommend reading this article in Ron Burgundy's voice. On a serious note, it's sad to see Medium publication articles keep going down in quality... particularly on Hacker Noon https://hackernoon.com/why-python-is-an-excellent-choice-for-machine-learning-71acfa03f567

The section on Python vs Java comparison is purely awesome. I've seen both claims (Python is faster than Java and Java being a compiled language is worse) multiple times. I can't even... Well, what's the point in ranting. If people doing data science (duh) can't do a simple fact check and/or simply compile pros and cons of both technologies... 😄

@r4zzz4k anecdotally, I've noticed the bar for data scientists gets lower every year, and the field may be in decline. I've met "data scientists" who don't even know SQL, but can copy and paste a snippet of Python to use a black box library they only have an abstract understanding of. They might have memorized a few Pandas commands to do basic tasks that can be done in Excel... but couldn't tell you anything about OOP or code design. This also might be why there's a growing weird sentiment "data scientists" will be automated and out of a job soon, if oversupply of talent doesn't happen first. https://www.forbes.com/sites/forbestechcouncil/2019/02/04/why-there-will-be-no-data-science-job-titles-by-2029/#6d286a073a8f

I haven't read the article, does it seriously say python is faster than Java?
Ok I read it and it also says it can only be run on the same platform it was compiled on
Must be a troll

There are more Medium articles that are "Members Only". Very annoying since most of the articles recommended to me by Medium (with their ML system) are these articles. Medium is really going downhill by gradually turning into a publication paywall.
