Also it looks like an advertisement, and they are explicitly forbidden here, see topic.

I understand your wish to keep your slack workspace clean. I can promise you that we are not trying to advertise anything, we just need your feedback. The global droidcon license majority owner is the City of Berlin, not some crazy corporate. 🙂

How is the email address used, is it stored? does it end up in a CRM? or worse a mailchimp list?
w
If we did use your email for anything else than to send you the code without telling you and confirm, it would be illegal. Due to this being a google form, the email is stored in the corresponding sheet in our drive until we send out the code, then it is deleted.

The email is sent from my work e-mail address. I do not think we will get more than 20 responses so it will be manageable to do it one by one

Doesn't actually mean you won't

Doesn't mean it's not an ad. Many cities often advertise as much as (and sometimes more than) these "crazy corporate"s you refer to.

trust me or don't - I would invite you to sit and talk to show you what we do if you want but chances are you are not in Berlin. What made this community so paranoid? My GDGs are usually very nice to me on Slack.

I meant no offense, I only meant that the specific language you used sounded kind of like a politician dodging a question, so you may want to clarify. As far as the paranoid point goes, we've had some issues in the past with people blatantly ignoring the CoC to get their ads all over the place, so many tend to bristle if something looks too much like an ad. My suggestion would be to just reword it a little bit, as apparently it's enough ad-like to set a lot of people on edge.

Honestly, the discount and "more info at" section do feel rather ad like. I understand you didn't mean it that way, it's just how it came across.

Exactly, I wrote pretty much the same to @Wolf Söllner in DM.

Reworded variant is so much better! Thanks, @Wolf Söllner.
