There is a point of diminishing return there, the sweet spot being probably 100-120 characters. Obviously, there are also implications in terms of being able to have two windows side by side, which is super useful in general too.

I often have thread pane opened side-by-side. If Slack could open thread pane outside of the main window, that would be awesome.
