gradle.. i wish speed was their n°1 priority, but nobody care about performance anymore nowadays..

This is not true about Gradle. They invest a lot to performance and actually successful in many areas

Warmed JVM is completely fine case and even with such thing as Gradle they have Gradle daemon
Also improvements in Gradle not only about pure performance of build (anyway, it's more depends on comiler than on Gradle itself), but also improving configuration time and memory consumption
