Having more programmers shouldn't hurt, and it's not because you tried that it'll become your day job

louiscad: It MAY hurt. I once joined a team of 12 people where they were delivering like there were 2-3 of them and I couldn't even add myself as one more to that 2-3 because I had to help others.

I heard stories of 50-500 people "teams" where 10 times less could do the same work.

But this is not always an issue with worse developers, but management and money.
