When I see all my coworkers using this tiny white keyboard you see everywhere, I feel I’m looking at a generation of developers who will soon be in a lot of wrist pain

cedric: I actually switched from a Microsoft natural layout (with the split) to an Apple wireless keyboard. Used the Microsoft one for over 5 years, started getting problems in my hands and wrists to the point where my hands would lose grip when holding things. Been using an Apple keyboard for 5 years since and no problems. As long as you don't rest your wrist on the desk and don't bend your wrists to write code, then the apple keyboard seems fine to me.

I’ve got this exact one:

at the ofice I’ve got the full one with the numpad.
I’m done with those mechanical keys, they’re typically noisy as hell and once you’re used to them, you destroy typically any cheap keyboard since you’re so used to typing hard. Pity the datahand is no longer being manufactured, that looked like the best keyboard. Always wanted one since I saw it as a kid

I want this for my feet too
And yes, mechanical keyboards are terrible if you have people around you, very selfish

Hahaha, feet keyboard 😄 One guy in the office wanted a mechanical keyboard, his request was denied simply due to the noise they make. My parents also complained about the noise - apparently they could hear me type on the other side of the house. Those 2011 MacBook Pro keyboards are fantastic, the key movement is just perfect, these new MacBook and 2016 MacBook Pro keyboards are terrible, you can’t feel if you pressed the key or not, there’s almost no feedback.

Yeah I’d probably decline a mechanical keyboard request for anyone who’s not working alone in an office or at home
