becoming a backend kotlin developer leads to jobless?
c
I've been a backend kotlin developer since kotlin 1.0 came out, so were most of my team. So far noone thought to kick us out or anything 😄

we do Kotlin at the backend and it’s an improvement on Java (without downsides because of the excellent interop). Though there are concerns about the size of the dev pool we can hire from.
on a slight tangent: becoming an AWS kotlin developer probably leads to kotless!

also doing kotlin backend with spring, the only issue I saw hiring is willingness of java dev to work with kotlin, some are reluctant. those who are not pick up kotlin fairly easy

@thanksforallthefish that's probably demographic specific, we're conducting a lot of interviews these past two months, (about 30 engineers so far, at all levels) we haven't heard any complaints or noticed any reluctance to work with Kotlin. @Stephan Schroeder, we are experiencing one major downside - IJ is Slooooow with Kotlin if you have any significant amount of code, but JB announced that they'll be tackling it for next year or so, so we are hopeful.

yeah, we noticed that as well. But yes, the new compiler that was announced at KotlinConf opening talk (but isn't out yet) is supposed to be 5 times faster.
