As you have no doubt found out, cross posting is generally discouraged around here. Whenever you have a question and you don't know the best channel to ask, just make your best guess at one and put it there. If it needs to be moved, people will generally let you know. If you immediately post to multiple channels, it comes across as aggressive, arrogant, and spammy.

OK cool. Thanks. I come from many years back on IRC, where cross-posting was fine so long as it was on-topic everywhere it was posted, and if you got your Q answered in one place, you shared elsewhere for anyone lurking who might also want to know the answer.
Given that I thought Slack was a spiritual successor to IRC (and the Kotlin slack rules indicated I ask on topic questions but I didn’t see anything about cross-posting—maybe I overlooked it?—it seemed like a safe bet to assume IRC customs had carried over to Slack.

Indeed, and it is quite common to cross post in other slacks. Unfortunately we have a rather unpleasant history with spammers, and got rather jaded against it. I thought it was in the CoC, but I could be wrong. It may just be a cultural thing.

I’ll go check so you don’t have to.
No, it’s not there. There is an admonition to “[f]ind the right channel”, but it’s about being on topic, not about finding the one and only right channel. In any case, I’ll keep this in mind in the future. Thanks.

Good to know, thanks for looking into that. And thanks for understanding. It's sometimes hard for some of us to remember people don't automatically grok our quirks. 😀
