yo, why is the documentation messed up? this bug has been popping up again and again.. no errors in console, extensions disabled..
h
"we"? I'm not seeing you doing anything but ranting.
p
better now?
h
You can download the docs and use those if the website is so "atrocious" for you.
d
You have version 1.0 selected. I don't think kotlin.math existed then.
p
I didn't select it though, this is where I landed from google.
d
Not sure what you clicked. When I search for "kotlin.math" on google, the first result takes me to v 1.3
actually, no
The version is remembered
p
Yeah, they store the version in cookies or local storage..
dumb idea
s
so you’d rather them not remember so people working on a specific version need to select from the dropdown every time
d
I see nothing dumb with it at all.
And, knowing you, you would say "that's dumb" if it did not remember it...

p
come on guys, would this behavior fly in your professional projects?
if the doc is not available for the version i have locally stored, then at least show a warning or something
d
Okay, then make a constructive change request. Not "you are dumb, this is atrocious, I will make fun of you now".

I can agree it’s not great UX, but I think this is probably something of an unfortunate edge case
c
submit a youtrack or a pr

not something to just hop on slack and tell a whole company “get your shit together” over
“Kotlin can’t do any better” like what lmao
p
I have seen people mentioning the code snippets disappearing months ago. Clearly nothing has been done.

d
No, clearly the code snippets have not improved at all. /s
p
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
n
pretty aggressive responses here, doesn’t seem very welcoming for such a big community (though fair advice I think with youtrack and pr)
s
a) not our first exchange b) they’ve edited out the more toxic bits of their messages
p
a) Didn't know I make such an impact here since I post like once a month. b) I admit it. Not sure if I am a "they" though. I am glad we have these two fanboys here defending a private for-profit company 24/7. Not sure what would JetBrains do without them.

d
"they" is used as a gender-neutral pronoun. Yes, I admit it, I am what you could call a "fanboy". That doesn't mean I mindlessly defend everything that's being done...

Only thing I’m a fanboy of is polite, reasoned discourse.
b
They have YouTrack for reason. This is the first time I’ve looked at #C0922A726 since I joined the Slack and with the amount of messages that come through on this channel, I wouldn’t expect anyone to do anything about complaints placed in this channel. Again, that’s exactly what YouTrack is for: professional tracking of features, bugs, and feedback. There would probably a #support or similar channel if they planned on guaranteeing a response
(Take the next message thread for example)
