Would probably fit better in #random, but Gitter is basically a chat app that connects with your GitHub account and has extensive integration with the site.

It's like slack or discord but not as good

There are a lot of github projects that use it as their main chat, so sometimes it's useful to get in contact with the devs.

I prefer issues

Those aren't really suited for questions or quick back and forth conversation though.
