General is a channel that can’t be removed and will notify everyone. In some slack communities I’ve seen this renamed to

announcements

and ppl are informed it is only to be used to broadcast a message to everyone. Ideally,

general

shouldn’t be used much, because it can be annoying to be receiving notifications everytime someone posts.

we renamed it to announcements in our company too
