Hello everyone. Who knows more information about the word Kotlin. I know that is island name, but why the name of island is Kotlin?

Most probably it's from Russian "котёл" (kotyol) - kettle. This is very old name and nobody really knows why it called this way. There is a couple of legends. This kettle even placed on coat of arms of Kronshtadt (city on the Island) -

Also, there is the first logo of Kotlin ("Project Kotlin" in those days) -

AFAIK the island had its name long before the Russians came to that region

I have no such information, all versions that I know related to kettle meaning. And word itself existing in many slavic languages
