IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate is a superset of Android Studio AFAIK

They are not subset the other way either. Ultimate has a host of its own unique features. AS is basically based on Community (free) version + Android specific things

I know it's not true the other way. But it kind of sucks for people like me who do both enterprise java and android development.. Because when I needed to dabble in JavaScript or Python, my trusty Ultimate always had my back 🙂
