that’s what I did, but I would like to justify my choices

Netty is usually the default option. When embedding usually doesn’t matter what to choose unless you find a problem with a specific engine in a specific edge-case that doesn’t reproduce in other engine. Netty engine is usually the fastest option for ktor and I guess more people use it, so more bugs have been found and fixed related to different ktor engines.
