Yes, this is painful.
We identified two different issues as being causes for the “all red” situations.

One on the IntelliJ/Kotlin side of things, the other one on the Gradle Kotlin DSL side.

Seeing these these usability issues fixed would be awesome. Please upvote/comment so they get the attention they deserve.
