Posting here because I think this is not really compose related, and so maybe someone has an idea here. tldr, updated to the new androidx releases today and now we cant build due to this error.

@julioromano I think I figured it out. In the module with the problematic code... add

tasks.withType<org.jetbrains.kotlin.gradle.tasks.KotlinCompile> {
    kotlinOptions {
        freeCompilerArgs += "-Xjvm-default=enable"
    }
}

Thanks for posting this, I just figured this out myself. Really surprised google released something like this

2.5.0 went stable recently and we just bumped and this post saved me a lot of headache about why everything was red all of a sudden 😅
