Can we stop poking people for
Not Kotlin
? Who cares? Are we trying to be like stack overflow? People need places to ask questions that they have, and chat communication is far more accessible than posts. This is probably the only chat / slack community that many developers are a part of, especially when it comes to Android.

SO is already very exclusive. You really can’t ask generalized questions. They will get deleted, and downvoted. I dislike people are effectively doing the exact same thing in the Kotlin community. Dissuading people from asking questions that they have, in an informal conversational way. If they can’t ask them here, where can they ask them?

Scroll up and look at how many comments are marked
Not Kotlin
. It’s a large percentage. Part of the problem is that there aren’t places to ask these questions, really anywhere (SO definitely won’t take them), and yet people have the questions. I would rather people ask their question, even if it’s not in the ideal place, and not have to feel like they are doing something wrong, and not have a place to ask the questions.

@spierce7 There is the android United Slack workspace. the problem with general questions , is that after awhile they will overflood this slack channel, and the topic will no longer be kotlin related at all.

this channel already has a low signal-to-noise ratio relative to the rest of this Slack, making it more general will be worse. also, even if there are many Android developers here, this is a space run by JetBrains for the purpose of the Kotlin. even if you don't know where to take your general non-Kotlin questions, that doesn't mean you should bother here with them ("need to do something, this is a thing, therefore this must be done" is not a logical conclusion)
