Anyways I've figured out the issue

You did. If you write a message and then another message, that is two threads. If you write a message and then open the thread for the next message, that would be one thread. In MS Teams this is much more relevant as threads actually move when comments are written and there it is essential. But also here it is better to use threading properly 😉
Also people get notified about new threads, but only about new answers in threads they actually follow
