Did Android Studio 3.5 remove “Use same device for future launches” ???!!!?!
b
I'm almost sure that it should still be there as AS3.5 is using IDEA 2019.2 and I saw such option seconds ago
d
I do not see it anymore
r
It also no longer automatically focuses the selection pane, so you can’t use the keyboard to select the device to run from.
d
I noticed that too!!
This is a big deal for me and my workflow.

@romainguy Could you ask Tor about this ☝️
d
yea, is there no way to force the device selection dialog to come up? i frequently change which/how many devices i want to target, and it was quick and easy via keyboard before

@Dmitry You should file a feature request (from the "Send Feedback" IDE option or on b.android.com) to ask allowing changing target device with keyboard.
d
Send a feature request for a feature that was there for years???????
You do realize how ridiculous that sounds right?
Ok, so put the IDE in "Distraction Free Mode" then SHIFT+F9 always prompts for device selection. But if you turn off "Distraction Free Mode" then everything works as expected.
l
@dewildte It's sending a feature request for the new device selection UI, but now that you added details, it seems it's just not handled right in distraction free mode. You can still file a suggestion for this case. Is that now not sounding too ridiculous??????? 😁

r
People actually work in an IDE without distraction-free mode on?
d
@rook Most developers I work with use the keyboard to type text ONLY. If there is a not a button you can click on with your mouse to do something they need then they are like helpless babies.

@dewildte Show them this: https://vimeo.com/98922030

cmd+shift+a > device > pick the current device/run item > pick the device you want to run on ctrl+ r to run
assuming it is like 3.6, because who uses stable for production work
r
I actually use
ctrl + alt + D (or R)
to run configurations. It’s fewer steps.
d
But does it work in Distraction Free Mode? Lol
