That's the resulting action not the reason behind it 😉
You could create a wrapper around the response so it's reusable.
I agree that it makes it easier though. But in the long term the fewer dependencies your code has the easier it is to maintain and evolve.

On long term additional abstraction over Rest and Retrofit is probably also good option
