I'm newbie in hardware and iot, but with Android it's easier to start for me, hope to find time to implement a couple of ideas

Things was apparently foisted on Google by the community, it’s a really smart idea, use an OS we are all familiar with… and make it easy to write clean code, who wants to be writing C in 2017?

True! And for companies who want to ship some hardware product it's much easier, than do everything from the scratch
Especially if you need device connected to internet
